Thanks everyone for the lovely comments on my Tessuti Dress Entry. The finalists have been announced, and alas, I am not one of them ..... there's always next year!
So, onto Vogue 7610 ... I made this some time back, just trying to catch up on a few things now..... this is great pattern and I've worn these jackets heaps! First a denim one, lots of top stitching and jeans buttons etc, and the 2nd one I did in baby grey cord with a fake fur trim - all fabrics from Rosemary at Chic Fabrique. For the 2nd one I shaved a little off the head of the sleeve I could probably go down a size overall now that I think about it. I cut a Size C. For the 2nd one, I also changed the shape of the back yoke and the shape of the pockets. These jacket styles are a great addition to your wardrobe, the pattern was fine, though I am curious to try Style Arc's jeans jacket to compare .... but then again that would probably never fit on my "list" for quite some time ...... know what I mean?
Ciao for now!

Vogue 1061 Tunic / Jacket
Ahh, I needed this! After the marathon of the tailored jacket it was an absolute pleasure to sew up a quick project. One of my students made this recently and she lent me her pattern. We added about 5.5cm in length to each body piece. Photographed on location at my tap class this morning - thanks Miss Cherin!
Fabric is again from Martin & Savage - called Diagonal Knit - it is Poly / Rayon and Lycra - quite lightweight - yet warm - perfect for the current cold snap we are experiencing. The pants in this pattern look interesting too. Well, I'd better practice my new steps .... knock heel toe heel dig ball change heel heel .......

Jacket New Look 6799
A boxy little jacket .... now my figure type might normally preclude me from a jacket of this design, but, as we do, I fell in love with the picture on the envelope ....
And in my imagination I will look exactly like this lovely lady when I make the brown dress to match .......
Tweed fabric from The Fabric Store in Surry Hills, Sydney ..... I matched all checks as best I could ....
I used plastic press studs to fasten the jacket - so the front buttons are purely decorative - rather than have big ugly buttonholes through the thick fabric....
After I washed the fabric I decided to not line the jacket - it wasn't stiff or scratchy and since it was designed to be worn over a summer dress - I didn't want another layer of fabric on the jacket. All raw edges were bound with Satin Bias Trim - Hong Kong Style - no less!
A little time consuming - but otherwise good - it fits me nicely as well - I cut a 12, the dress will be 14 ..... don't hold your breath waiting for a post about it ..... it won't happen over night, but it WILL happen!

I've Topped a Trench
I made a Trench Topper. Here's the pattern from Indygo Junction.
I made it in denim and I used some Anna Maria Horner "Drawing Room" as a contrast - the fabric is a Home Decor weight - can't wait to try it in some bags. Here are the corded buttonholes I did.

Ever used a thing to cut open your buttonholes? Here's mine - a little tap tap and voila!

Not sure how old these buttons are .... but I'll leave the discussion about my local haby / wool / ladies "fashion" / lingerie shop for another day .... needless to say, their buttons are vintage ....
Miss Maggie just HAD to nuzzle in on the act ...
I made a Medium size.
I added the contrast to the cuffs as well as the front facing ..

This is a great pattern. I was very pleased with how well everything went together. There are 3 main variations with lots of interchangeable possibilities. I added a facing for the bottom section of contrast - so that the weight was equivalent with the denim. It's lime green cotton drill ...
Ok, so now should a trench get in my way .... I'll be ready to TOP it!
